Work Package 2 (L_WP2) Leader
Professor Wen-Hua Chen holds Professor in Autonomous Vehicles in the Department of Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering at Loughborough University where he is leading the Autonomous Systems Laboratory. He is also the Head of Control and Reliability Research Group. Prof. Chen has a considerable experience in control and signal processing and their applications in aerospace and automotive systems. In the last eight years, he has been spending most of his effort in developing research in unmanned aircraft systems and their applications, covering most of the aspects from autopilots, situational awareness, decision making to verification and surveillance. His unmanned vehicles related research is widely supported by the government and industry including BAE Systems, Thales, Dstl, TSB, and EPSRC. He is the PI of the EPSRC Project “Towards More Autonomy of Unmanned Vehicles: Situational Awareness and Decision Making under Uncertainty”. Prof Chen has published over 160 papers with 75 international journal papers. He has received Charles Shape Beecher Prize for his work in autonomous helicopters (with Dr Cunjia Liu and Prof John Andrews) by the Institute of Mechanical Engineering in 2013.
