Our aim is to offer an excellent teaching and learning environment which is free to attend. As the course was oversubscribed last year and numbers are capped, application to the Summer School requires an applicant selection process. Candidates can apply to be considered for a place when registration opens in January 2016.

To ensure that participants are equipped to apply this work to practical solutions, the course will be delivered through traditional lectures and tutorials on set exercises supervised by leading experts in the field.

Objectives

The objectives of the Summer School are to:

  • Fill a gap in knowledge for signal processing engineering research students and industrial practitioners.
  • Facilitate the process of taking new theoretical developments into practical engineering applications.
  • Create a focal point for research in Signal Processing for Defence
  • Stimulate new collaborations in this field.

There will also be ample opportunity to network at the UDRC Summer School social events which is still to be confirmed.

Lectures and slides

Digital copies of lectures and slides will be provided in the form of a USB stick as part of the Summer School pack which will be given to all attendees on the first day of the event. They are also available here.

Summer School Socials

Monday 27th June 7pm: For those who are brave enough, the UDRC have organised a ghost walk around Edinburgh’s legendary Underground City. This tour is provided by City of the Dead Tours (recommended by the Lonely Planet guide) and lasts one hour and twenty minutes. We start at 7 pm from the large black signs against the wall of St Giles Cathedral and finish in Niddry Street South. After the ghost walk we will reconvene at the Doric Bar on Market Street for a drink to calm our nerves.

Wednesday 29th June 7.30pm: The UDRC Summer School meal will be taking place in the Salisbury Arms. The form to indicate your menu choices is available here.
