Dr James Hopgood

Work Package 3 and 4 (E_WP3 and E_WP4)

Dr James Hopgood is a Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh specialising in model-based Bayesian signal processing, acoustic source localization and tracking (ASLT), signal enhancement, biomedical signal analysis, and blind image enhancement. He has been the Principal Investigator for the EU FP7 grant LOCOBOT to develop multi-modal target tracking and event recognition in adverse acoustic environments; this research has application in both civilian and defence sectors. His recent defence work has focused on passive acoustic gunshot localization in multipath environments; research initially funded by the DSTL-UDRC in Signal Processing and has been extended in collaboration with Selex Galileo, with an emphasis on acoustic sensing from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
