Professor John Soraghan

LSSCN Deputy Director

Principal Investigator (University of Strathclyde)

Academic Leader for Work Package 4 (L_WP4)

Professor John Soraghan has held the Texas Instruments Chair in Signal Processing in the Centre for excellence in Signal and Image Processing (CeSIP), Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, University of Strathclyde since 2004. He has previously worked with Westinghouse Electric Corporation,USA on their TPS43 and TPS63 radar systems. His Phd research at Southampton University was funded by the Royal Aircraft Establishment, Farnborough and investigated advanced SAR Processing on Distributed Array Processors.

Professor Soraghan is Head of the Signal Processing Algorithms and Applications Group in CeSIP and conducts fundamental and applied signal research in areas that include Radar & Remote Sensing, Biomedical and Video&Speech Processing. His is an expert in non-linear signal, image and video processing, time frequency signal analysis, and linear canonical transforms with applications. He was PI on the High ‘Resolution Radar Signal Processing and MicroDoppler Extraction’ project EP/H012877/1 as part of the dstl UDRC Phase 1 (2009-2013) and an investigator on the £3.5m EPSRC ‘Biological Inspired Acoustic Systems (BIAS)’ project (2005-2010). He holds three patents, has published over 280 papers and supervised more than 40 PhD students to graduation.
