David Cormack obtained an MEng with Distinction in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh in 2016. David was awarded a Watt Club Medal and the IET Prize 2016 for achieving the greatest distinction in his undergraduate degree programme. In September 2016, David began his PhD programme as a part of UDRC Phase 2, and continued on into Phase 3. His PhD is part-funded by Leonardo, and he is primarily supervised by Dr. James Hopgood at the University of Edinburgh.
In May 2020, David successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled “Novel Methods for Multi-Target Tracking with Applications in Sensor Registration and Fusion”. He was examined by Dr. Yoann Altmann from Heriot-Watt University, and Prof. Simon Maskell from the University of Liverpool.
David is now back working at Leonardo in Edinburgh as a Senior Systems Engineer in core tracking algorithm development.
