Dr Stephan Weiss

Stephan Weiss received a Dipl.-Ing. in electronic & electrical engeering from the University of Erlangen-Nuernberg, Germany, in 1995, and a PhD in signal processing from the University of Strathclyde in 1998. In 1996/97 he was a visiting scholar at the University of Southern California, and in 1998/99 a visiting lecturer at the Unversity of Strathclyde. Following lecturer and senior lecturer appointments at the Unviersity of Southampton from 1999-2006, he joined the University of Strathlclyde as a reader.

Stephan's research interest covers adaptive, array, and multi-rate signal processing, with applications in communications, audio & acoustics, and biomedical. With his research team, he has published more than 220 research papers, and received the 2001 research award by the German Hearing society for an article in IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering (with U. Hoppe) and the 2011 best paper award at IEEE VTC Spring for a paper on MIMO communications (with N. Moret and A. Tonello).
